Film vs. Digital - Round Two

Round two of film vs. digital. Night shots in Jacksonville again and these two are almost exactly alike in composition, which makes the comparison that much easier. The only thing that is different is the color rendering of the film vs. the color rendering of the digital capture. I think I prefer the digital (right) in this match-up. What say you?

  1. Firs of all let me comment over the quality of the uploaded jpg. In order to review them in high resolution you need to use a lower jpg compression because the current quality is very low and it makes the comparison more difficult. Could you upload them again with minimum compression?

It is obvious that the depth of field between digital and film is different. Film colors seems to be more natural, while the digital version is much warmer. I am of course aware that you can change the color balance, but to do so you need a reference or follow your your own criteria It would be interesting to know what are the actual colors. The spotlight on the bottom left part yields less detail in the digital version.

There is more contrast in the middle lights of the film version, giving more depth. Again, you could emphasize the contrast in the digital version.

    Overall, both images are good

  2. Thanks for the input! I can't up-load them any bigger on this site unfortunately but it does save me from the possibility of someone trying to steal my images. We will have to do with what we got for now. I'm working on getting an actual website up but that is still in the working phase. Thanks again for the input, I agree on most everything you had to say.
